Share the poems. Write your own. Fund abortion access.

This Fund-a-Thon, poets from Texas, California, and New York are doing what poets do — telling the truth, out loud, to everyone listening. Each has contributed original work about abortion access and reproductive justice, and each is bringing their audience directly into this campaign throughout National Poetry Month.

We hope their words inspire you to share your own. We are not just raising funds — we are raising voices. And just like every dollar counts, every word does too.

The poets are already writing. Subscribe to our newsletter today and be the first to read every poem as it drops. Be sure to also follow our social media for poetry prompts and updates throughout April!

poetic justice
[po·et·ic  jus·tice] noun

1. a fitting, almost ironic outcome where wrongdoing meets its match;

2. what happens when poets decide to fight back

This campaign is both.

In “Poetry is not a luxury,” Audre Lorde wrote that poetry exists to “give name to the nameless so it can be thought.” In Texas, abortion has been made into something unspeakable — cut off, legislated away, forced out of reach.
Poets have always known that naming a thing is the first act of fighting for it. Fund Texas Choice exists for everything that comes after the words: the flights, the gas, the miles, the journey to care, and back home to a future Texans define for themselves.

The experience of seeking an abortion in Texas is not theoretical. It is a phone call, a price tag, a map, a distance, a decision made under impossible conditions. Poets have always been the ones who take that kind of experience — the kind that people in power would rather leave nameless — and share it so it cannot be ignored.

This Fund-a-Thon, we are asking everyone who believes in their words to put money behind the miles.
