Position Overview
The Development Coordinator will play a vital role in supporting our fundraising strategy, managing donor relationships, and ensuring smooth communication across platforms. This position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, has a fierce passion for abortion access, and thrives in a collaborative, remote nonprofit work environment.
Essential Duties
Fund Texas Choice (FTC) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to help Texans equitably access abortion through safe, confidential, and comprehensive travel services and practical support.
Summary: The Development Coordinator is a key member of the team, who will support the organization’s fundraising strategies and ensure effective communication with donors and stakeholders. This position plays a vital role in advancing our mission centered on abortion access and reproductive justice. Primary responsibilities include managing donor databases, processing and tracking contributions, issuing timely donor acknowledgments, and assisting in the development and execution of ambitious fundraising campaigns. The Development Coordinator will contribute to revenue planning by participating in goal-setting discussions, evaluating fundraising opportunities, and helping to organize events in collaboration with internal staff, the board of directors, and external partners. This role may also support the organization’s grant-related activities. The Development Coordinator will work closely with the Communications Coordinator to align messaging and contribute to outward-facing communications, such as newsletters and quarterly and/or annual reports. Some evening and weekend availability is required to support organizational events and fundraising activities.
Essential job functions include, but are not limited to:
Development and Administrative (85% of the role)
- Accurately and securely manage donor data, gifts, pledges, and other fundraising records.
- Ensure timely and thoughtful donor acknowledgments and related correspondence.
- Maintain the donor database (EveryAction CRM), including data entry and routine audits to ensure record accuracy and integrity.
- Collaborate with the Finance Lead to reconcile revenue receivables, including maintaining the check deposit log (typically twice a month; more frequently during high-volume periods).
- Communicate the receipt of donations from new giving platforms, coordinating with Finance and Development leaders to ensure proper tracking and reconciliation.
- Participate in regular discussions with Development and Executive leadership to review revenue goals, trends, and projections.
- Maintain and update the development project management system, documenting processes for donation entry, tracking, and acknowledgment across various platforms (e.g., ActBlue, Fidelity, PayPal, Meta, etc.).
- Prepare all donor correspondence, including thank you letters, fundraising emails, and other relevant updates.
- Coordinate the timely printing and mailing of donor correspondence, including thank-you letters, direct mail appeals, and campaign updates.
- Conduct research and compile information to support development initiatives and broader organizational needs.
- Participate in organization-wide staff meetings, training, and retreats.
- Prepare and deliver donor reports, contribution/fundraising campaign reports, presentations, and other materials as requested.
- Assist in the preparation of grant applications and other fundraising proposals.
- Create and update development department instructional materials, such as training manuals, presentations, and other helpful documentation.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of the overall mission of the organization and the development goals.
Communications (15% of the role)
- Collaborate with Communications Coordinator to produce outward facing communications, such as newsletter, impact reports, social media, etc.
- Work with Development Manager on donor communications.
Required Qualifications:
- A strong, demonstrated commitment to abortion access and reproductive justice.
- 1-3 years experience in nonprofit fundraising and development work, or a similar role.
- Proven ability to take initiative, work independently, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Reliable access to secure internet; this is a fully remote position.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive), Canva, donor management systems (EveryAction or similar CRM preferred), and common remote communication tools (Slack, email, text, video conferencing).
- Ability to analyze donor data and fundraising metrics to identify patterns, inform strategy, and support data-driven decisions.
